Aalim Hakim shares Sanju's hair secrets

The Film Street Journal, 30. Juni 2011

Aalim Hakim about Sanjay Dutt:

"I met Sanjay Dutt through a common friend. I have been styling him since Kaante, Plan and Musafir. He’s a rock star, his fashion is wild. He thinks beyond the normal. His beard, hair, teeth… they are all so wild and wicked. In Deewaar he played a Pakistani guy. He told me he wanted soorma for his eyes and a beard for the look. He looked so ferocious and wild! His personality is huge, his charisma is awesome, he can just about carry off anything.

His staff has been with him for 20 years, they are handsomely paid and he looks after them well, too. He stood up for me and others when we were not paid for Musafir. I did Zinda later for the same producer, but only for Sanju. Zinda payments were cleared, but the Musafir money is still pending. Sanju is kind-hearted and generous. He has come home and met my mother too.

My father had done Sanju’s mundan, and just a while ago I did his children’s mundan at his place. Only his family was there. Sanju loves body art and is addicted to tattoos. We have been doing his tattoos regularly here in my salon. At first he was scared of needles but now he’s addicted. He mails me his reference pictures, I mail some back, we discuss them and then get them done.

Recently he got two soldiers fighting for honour tattooed on his right arm. For his new movies we have even more deadly looks planned. My assistants are always with him. They were in Bangkok when he was shooting for Rascals but I was in touch with him."
