Sanjay Dutt voted Sabse Favorite Comic Actor Male 2010

Quelle / Source in English

Aladin goes Harry Potter.

All The Best – Fun Begins... (2009)

"Based on the play by Neil and Caroline Schaffner as published by Samuel French, Inc." steht in den Credits.

Das wäre also schon mal Pluspunkt 1.

Minute so richtig in Fahrt kommt.

Sanju-Herz, was willst du mehr?

Produktion: Ajay Devgn; Regie: Rohit Shetty

Blue (2009)

Produktion: Dhilin Mehta; Regie: Anthony D'Souza

Sanjay Dutt: "I would love to relive Munnabhai over and over again."

Quelle / Source in English

Sanjay (lacht): Ich hatte definitiv meine Momente.

SC: Sanjay Dutt can travel abroad

Quelle / Source in English
Quelle / Source in English

Paresh, Sanjay in Kaizad Gustad’s film

Quelle / Source in English

Sanjay Dutt to do a film with Kaizad Gustaad

Quelle / Source in English

Sanjay Dutt: "Passive Appearances" in other movies

Aaina (1993): In a room with loads of posters on the wall, Sanjay is to be seen several times.

Krantiveer (1994): Atul (Atul Agnihotri) has a Sanjay poster in his room.

Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998): A Sanjay Dutt lookalike appears at a college function.

Lajja (2001): In Janki's (Madhuri Dixit) room there is a movie poster of Sadak.

Bollywood / Hollywood (2002): During Rahul's and Sue's first scene, the song scene "Mera ek sapna hai" from Khoobsurat is shown on a big screen.

Chalte Chalte (2003): In the clip "Gumshudaa" Raj (Shahrukh Khan) and his friends imitate the entry of the six Kaante heroes in front of a large Kaante advertising panel.

Home Delivery (2005): In the background you hear frequently a sequence from a song which Sanjay sung for the film soundtrack ("Maya").

Rang De Basanti (2006): In one scene Daljit (Aamir Khan) and his friends are leaving a theatre after a performance of Munnabhai MBBS; they pass a poster of the movie and sing "Dekh Le".

Golmaal (2006): On TV a sequence from Vaastav is shown.

Yatra (2007): In 2005 Sanjay did an advertising spot for Elegant iron bars which is to be seen in this movie.

The Namesake (2007): Sanjay is to be seen on two different ad posters at the Kolkata station.

Sunday (2008): At a videotheque, a movie poster of Lage Raho Munnabhai is to be seen.

Welcome To Sajjanpur (2008): A short scene from Saajan is shown on TV, and for a short moment Sanjay is to be seen besides Madhuri Dixit.

C Kkompany (2008): At a cinema, one of the movie posters presents Shootout At Lokhandwala.

One Two Three (2008): Sanjay is named together with some other actors when someone tries to explain what a "bhai son" is.

Superman from Malegaon (2008): In Faiza Ahmad Khan's film you learn that in Malegaon it's much more expensive to get a haircut à la Sanjay Dutt (with long hair) than an SRK haircut.

Luck By Chance (2009): During the credits, a large-sized ad transparency for Lage Raho Munnabhai is unrolled.

Angel (2011): "Special Thanks to Sanjay Dutt" in the opening credits.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012): In this movie banknotes with Sanjay's portrait are shown.

Gangs Of Wasseypur Part II (2012): The character Perpendicular is a big Sanjay Dutt fan, having posters of Sanjay (Daag - The Fire) in his room. After watching Munnabhai MBBS in the cinema (you see a part of the title song, and outside there are many posters of that movie on the walls) he practises a Jadoo Ki Jhappi, calls himself "Munnabhai" and his best friend Tangent "Circuit", and both friends imagine going to Bombay to meet Sanjay Dutt and how this meeting would be. Apart from that, the character Ramadhir Singh reflects about star actors in India, mentioning that once all guys wanted to be like Dilip Kumar, then like Amitabh Bachchan, and nowadays (= 2003/04) they'd all love Salman Khan ("the guy with the very nice name") and "Sunil Dutt's and Nargis's son" Sanjay Dutt. Finally, the ring tone of Faizal Khan's cellphone is Sanjay's "Jihaan - Main Hoon Khalnayak" which is also heard once in Part I of GOW.

Bombay Talkies (2013): In the collection of classical film scenes (before the final song) there's also a short sequence from Rocky.

Raanjhanaa (2013): Two friends who obviously love Sanjay Dutt watch a cinema performance of Saajan.

Films considered to be made with Sanjay Dutt but finally made without him

Some film projects with Sanjay Dutt, as shown, were never made or finished. Some, on the other hand, were finally shot but without him. I collected a few of them but of course this list doesn’t claim to be complete...

23rd March 1931: Shaheed / The Legend of Bhagat Singh: In 2002, two films dealt with the life of Bhagat Singh, and in both Sanjay had been offered to do a guest appearance. As he was befriended with the makers of both films (Dharmendra and Sunny Deol here, Ajay Devgan there), he chose the most diplomatic solution and said "no, thanks" to both offers.

Acid Factury: Produced by White Feather Films (2009), Sanjay was meant to be in the film, but after he parted ways with this production banner, his role was re-written for Irrfan Khan.

Bluffmaster: Sanjay was to play Roy, and Abhishek Bachchan was to play Dittu. But when Karan Johar shifted his KANK schedule in New York from May to September 2005, Rohan Sippy was forced to either wait a whole year for the Bluffmaster shooting or to start at once. The only one being able to give dates on short notice was Abhishek while Sanjay and Aishwarya (who was to do Priyanka’s role) weren’t free. So both had to withdraw from the project, but obviously they did it sympathetically as Sippy expressed his "very special thanks" to them in the credits.

Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke: It was planned with Sanjay in 1997, but he could not give immediate dates. Later Raj Kanwar made the film with Abhishek Bachchan; it was released in 2000.

Dil Mein Baji Guitar: On April 15, 2008 Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts Ltd announced this forthcoming comedy starring Govinda and Sanjay Dutt, to be directed by Hadi Ali Abrar. After that, nothing more was heard about this project until January 2009 when it was said that Abrar was talking with Shreyas Talpade and Ranvir Shorey for the role considered to be Sanjay's.

Dishkiyaaoon: In the end of 2011, the media announced that Shilpa Shetty wanted Sanjay for an extended guest appearance in her first home production starring Harman Baweja, Prashant Narayanan and Aditya Pancholi. Newcomer Sanamjit Singh Talwar has written the action-packed gangster movie and will also direct it. Dishkiyaaoon will show the Mumbai underworld in a new light and has very real and contemporary characters. The film is an action thriller laced with black humour. It is being shot on real locations in Mumbai by the German Director of Photography Axel Fischer and has music by Ram Sampat. However, in March 2013 it was known that, due to his packed schedule, Sanjay was not able to do Shilpa's film.

Faltu: Vashu Bhagnani had casted Sanjay for his son Jackky Bhagnani's second movie, the college film Faltu (Vashu Bhagnani: "It’s a film about the lacuna in present day education. It’s about the failure of today’s educational system to guide our youngsters into suitable careers. It’s about how there’s too much stress in and on academics and too little on actually tapping every child’s potential.") Being friends with the Bhagnanis, Sanjay was willingly ready to support Jackky's re-launch and to play the main role of the principal who guides the students and helps them in dealing with their problems; but due to schedule problems, he later had to walk out of the project.

Freedom: In Vivek Agnihotri's political thriller which is to take the audience through the journey of India from the 70s to the current times, Agnihotri wanted to sign Sanjay for a pivotal role. However, nw (2012) he is obviously planning his project without him.

Gangster: Mahesh Bhatt had offered the leading role to Sanjay but, due to date problems, Sanjay couldn't accept it.

Generation Next (Gen X): A gangster film sans violence, an action comedy as a launch vehicle for two newcomers from producer Ekta Kapoor's reality show "Kissko Milega Ticket To Bollywood"; Sanjay Dutt, Tusshar Kapoor and Zayed Khan were to star in this film, Apoorva Lakhia is to direct it. However, Sanjay opted out of this project about a year before shooting was supposed to start (September 2008).

Ghanchakkar: Sanjay was to do a cameo as himself in Rajkumar Gupta's film Ghanchakkar starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi, but after the SC verdict in March 2013 this cameo was cancelled completely as Sanjay had no time left to shoot for it.

Hello Brother: This is to be read with a big question mark. Rumours say that Sanjay was to be in this film but could not do it because of date problems. Sohail Khan, however, stated in 7/1999 that the role was to be played by Arbaaz from the very beginning and that he was very embarrassed when Sanjay phoned him asking about the rumours of him being in Hello Brother... So probably this was really just a rumour. Let’s take it as a such one.

Hera Pheri: Originally named Raftaar, this film resulted from Varma's Nayak project which, in 1996, had been re-written (based on the movie Speed). Director Priyadarshan was to work with Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar in this Feroz Nadiadwala production (Steven Seagal was guest of honour at the mahurat). But as Sanjay still had to spend all days at court it was difficult for him to give the required dates, and in 1998, not wanting to cause further delay, he walked out of the project. Priyan asked Suniel Shetty to play Sanjay’s role, and as Karisma Kapoor protested against Suniel’s casting, Feroz Nadiadwala replaced her by Tabu. In 2000 the film, in the meantime named Hera Pheri, was released.

Hero: Subhash Ghai had planned to give the title role to Sanjay, but after his negative experiences with Sanjay at the sets of Vidhaata - Sanjay was still on drugs at that time - he changed his mind and gave the role to newcomer Jackie Shroff. He even decided not to cast Sanjay ever again. But after Sanjay successfully fought his drug addiction and made a great comeback as an actor, Subhash Ghai changed his mind again and casted Sanjay as his Khalnayak.

Heroes: In an early report about Samir Karnik's Heroes, Sanjay was named as one of the co-stars. But he never appeared in this movie.

Informer: Sanjay Dutt was to act together with Emraan Hashmi in Kunal Deshmukh's film for Vishesh Films/Mahesh Bhatt but had to quit the project due to date problems. After Vivek Oberoi was briefly considered for his role, it finally went to Randeep Honda.

Jailbreak: First planned for Sanjay Dutt as Charles and I and then as Serpent Files. In 2008, Sanjay was to star in People Pictures' racy thriller Serpent Files (originally titled Charles and I). The movie was to be directed by Darna Mana Hai director Prawaal Raman and was allegedly based on the life of notorious criminal, Charles Sobhraj. It was to tell the story of an enigmatic criminal who sends the police forces in half a dozen countries on a wild goose chase. Talking about the choice of Sanjay Dutt for the lead role, writer and director of Charles & I, Prawaal Raman said, "Charles is a complex character - a charming man with a dangerous mind and dangerous intentions. Finding the right actor who has the ability to exude all these qualities at the same time was a tough call. We were looking for an actor who radiates star power coupled with the finest acting prowess to portray Charles. The only actor in my opinion who fit that profile was Sanjay Dutt". Aditya Shastri, CEO People Pictures (who meanwhile, however, backed out), commenting on the choice of the leading man says, "Sanjay Dutt is a terrific human being and a gifted actor who has the versatility to play diverse roles with unbeatable flair." Herman Knippenberg, the Dutch diplomat who investigated Sobhraj's case, has been roped in as consultant for this film. Though Sobhraj from Nepal where he presently serves a jail term filed a case against the project, Raman continued planning and wanted to rope in Lisa Ray and Bipasha Basu. Then the project was shelved for many years. When, in 2012, it was announced to be revived as Jailbreak, it was clear that it would be without Sanjay.

Kandukondain Kandukondain: There were rumours that Sanjay would star in Mani's Aandavan with Aishwarya Rai and Tabu in 1997. The film was later directed by Rajeev Menon as Kandukondain Kandukondain, and Sanjay was replaced by Mammootty.

Khuda Gawah: His first scenes of this film with Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan were already shot (watch this) when Sanjay walked out. I have no idea why. His role (which obviously was just a small one) was then played by South Indian actor Nagarjuna.

Kurbaan: Karan Johar had planned this film (2009) at the beginning of the decade with Shahrukh Khan, Tabu and Sanjay Dutt; it was to be titled Kaal then. But he couldn't make the film at that time, and when the project finally took off, the roles were played by Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi.

Mission Istaanbul: Sanjay was supposed to play Nikitin Dheer's role but couldn't do it due to date problems.

Mohabbat Ka Paigham: In several Sanjay Dutt filmographies this movie from 1989 is still named. But I doubt that Sanjay ever did it. Till now I didn't find any evidence of it, and his face is not on the soundtrack cover. I think he was planned to do the film (supposedly the role Aditya Pancholi finally played), but due to whichever reasons the film was made without him.

Moksha: Ashok Mehta wanted to do his debut film in the early 90's with Sanjay. But he couldn't give Mehta the dates then, and when he got stuck with his legal hassles, he told Mehta to go on with another hero. So Mehta, in 1997, signed model Arjun Rampal. The film was released in 2001.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai: Milan Luthria's next was meant to be the ultimate comprehensive look-see at Mumbai's underworld with Sanjay Dutt in the lead "who has acted in more films on the underworld than Ram Gopal Varma has directed". But after the end of the five-film deal between Sanjay and producer Ekta Kapoor, Sanjay's name disappeared from reports about this movie which is now to go on floors with Ajay Devgan and Emran Hashmi in the leads.

Prem Granth: Sanjay was to play the role of Soman but, because of his hassles with the FMC, didn’t manage to give the required dates. When he finally did, Madhuri could not give matching dates. To avoid further delay of Rajiv Kapoor’s project, the Kapoors and Sanjay agreed that the film would be made without him but with Rajiv’s brother Rishi in Sanjay’s role.

Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya: In Filmfare 6/1998, Salman Khan stated that he and Sohail offered the role of Vishal to Sanjay, but he was doubtful about the role and finally rejected it. It was then played by the third Khan brother, Arbaaz.

Race 2: Sanjay was considered for this film but couldn't do it as he had all his dates occupied.

Rajneeti: In 2004, Prakash Jha planned this film for five male leads and one female lead, and he was said to have got agreements from Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Ajay Devgan. But obviously, the project at that time remained a plan. In 2008, it hit the headlines again, but now without Sanjay in the cast.

Trimurti: Sanjay was to play Anand, and Mukul Anand had even started shooting with him (I would love to see these scenes!) when Sanjay’s re-arrest on July 4, 1994 stopped the project. It is said that Sanjay sent a written agreement from prison to producer Subhash Ghai to make Trimurti without him. So Ghai did it and casted Anil Kapoor for Sanjay’s role (much to Aditya Pancholi’s displeasure who allegedly even made threatening phone calls to Anil). However, Shatrughan Sinha said in an interview (Filmfare 12/1997), "And what about all the drama he (Ghai) created just to drop Sanjay Dutt from Trimurti! Mr Sunil Dutt and Sanjay have told me the truth. He (Ghai) says Sanju gave him a no-objection letter. Maybe I should keep mum because the truth is something else."

Veer: When Salman Khan wrote his skript (end of the 80's/beginning of the 90's), he wanted to cast Sanjay Dutt for the lead (plus Amitabh Bachchan and Kumar Gaurav). But at that time, no producer was willing to spend so much money on a period film. When Salman finally, many years later, could make is dream movie, he played the lead himself (2010).

Yaan: Sanjay was considered for a role in Ravi K Chandran's Tamil film Yaan starring Jiiva, but due to his busy schedule Sanjay couldn't be a part of this project.

Yudh: Rajiv Rai planned this film in the early 80's with Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim who were in love at that time. But after Tina's involvement with Rajesh Khanna and the couple's break-up, Sanjay told Rajiv that it would be either her or him in his film. Finally Sanjay opted out, but Rajiv and he remained friends.

Zordaar: In 1988, Sanjay walked out of this project of Ajay Kashyap with Govinda, Mandakini and Neelam due to date hassles (and was therefore furiously attacked by music director Anu Malik for abandoning the crew). Zordaar was then made without him (with Aditya Pancholi in the role meant for Sanjay), but it took the film until 1996 to finally be released.

Unfinished and shelved film projects with Sanjay Dutt

Many film plans with Sanjay were never made - in most cases due to date problems. I collected some of these projects but of course, this list can never claim to be a complete one.

Alert 24x7: Psycho thriller; director Sojan Joseph, writer Dilip Shukla (Dabangg), starring Sanjay Dutt, Kabir Bedi, Raveena Tandon and Anupam Kher. Shooting started in Goa in July 2011. Stalled due to the producers' financial problems.

Alibaug: A Sanjay Gupta film, based on an episode from Gupta's life. This film revolves around a young professor, who was once the life of his college. He is now dying, but has something to take care off before he breathes his last. He wishes to bring together his favourite bunch of students, who’ve drifted apart, and let the mad race of life take over their existence. Will the dying man help them make regain their lives?... Sanjay Dutt was to make a Special Appearance, but in March 2008 he asked Gupta to replace him. He had shot for ten days in June 2007, but after his separation from White Feather Films and Gupta and with his many other pending commitments, Sanjay obviously didn't find place for Alibaug anymore in his schedule. His role went to Irrfan Khan. But even then, the film was never completed.

Anokhi Ada: Producer Satish Khanna, Director Bharat Rangachary, with Raveena Tandon and Niki; announced in the early 1990’s.

Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo: According to Filmfare 12/2003, Nitin Manmohan, Sohail Maklai and Mani Shankar were planning this film with nine male leads which were to be played among others by Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Suniel Shetty.

Azaab: Director Farooque Siddique, with Farah and Amrish Puri; mahurat in the end of 1987.

Bihaad... Outlawed: Sanjay Dutt, Bunty Walia and Juspreet Walia are producing the action thriller Bihaad, Milan Luthria is the director. Sanjay himself has given the plot to Luthria and developed the story with him. It's going to be a true story, a realistic and harsh, but not a dark film. It will be shot in a rural area, planned are the jungles in Madhya Pradesh and the ravines of Chambal Valley. A first poster has already been published, but obviously Ajay Devgn has opted out of the film since that as the project was delayed for many years. Later it seemed to be on again but even then nothing happened. Obviously the project is shelved for good.
Source Source Source Source Source

Biwi I Love You / Meri Biwi Ko Salaam: In 2000, Sanjay mentioned in several interviews film projects with two different titles starring him and Karisma Kapoor, so it is possible that both meant the same Satish Kaushik project which obviously never became more than a plan.

Borivali: Sujoy Ghosh planned this film in 2005 with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt. Due to various reasons, the project never took off and finally had to give way to Ghosh's Aladin plans.

Chakra: This was Sanjay’s second attempt as producer, together with his brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav who also was to direct the film (Mumbai Talking Pictures). Sushmita Sen was announced to play the female lead, and the role of the villain should go to Sanjay’s cousin, TV actor Nimai Bali for whom Chakra should become the debut on the silver screen. But in 1999, Sanjay stated that "the film did get started but we felt something was missing. Nothing was falling into place... so we shelved the project" (Filmfare 8/1999).

Choodiyaan: Producer Sunderdas Sonkia, Director J.P. Dutta, with Madhuri Dixit and Raveena Tandon; announced in the early 1990’s.

Chor Lutere: Rajeev Kumar's film, planned in 1992 with Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt and Sumeet Saigal, was never made.

Devatma: Producer Dr. Y. Singhal & Dr. D.P. Garg, Director Sameer Malkan, with Shilpa Shirodkar; announced in the early 1990’s.

Dhee Remake: Script writer Kona Venkat offered a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Dhee to Sanjay who allegedly bought the rights of this romcom and roped in director Indra Kumar. Buzz was that, besides Sanjay, both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan were to act in the movie which was planned to go on floors in March 2012. But that never happened, and since in August 2012 another Dhee remake (Mirattal) was released, a similar project with Sanjay has become very unlikely.

Dost - My Best Friend: In 2004, Sanjay’s ex-secretary-turned-producer Pankej Kharbanda launched this film with a script by Veena Bakshi who also was to direct. It was the story of a six-year-old girl who gets separated from her parents in India and lands up in Romania (supposedly abducted) where she meets Sanjay who helps her returning to her parents. The first scenes shot in Romania obviously didn’t satisfy Kharbanda. I have no idea about this project’s further proceedings.

Dus: Information about Mukul S Anand's "unfulfilled dream" please find here.

Ek - The One: In an interview from 2003, Sanjay mentioned this Ram Gopal Varma project for Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and him. The story was based on three men, an ISI (Pakistani Secret Services) agent, a RAW (Indian Secret Services) officer and a CIA (American Secret Services) man, who despite their cultural and ideological differences, work together to save Mumbai from a nuclear threat. Sanjay was to play the RAW officer. Ek was hyped to become India's grandest and most expensive film ever, it was to be shot in India and the USA (with a Hollywood Crew). Perhaps the project was too expensive or too ambitious - whatever...

Ek Ajeeb/Anokhi Prem Kahani: Producer Jhannu Sugandh and director Mahesh Manjrekar wanted to make this bi-lingual film telling the unconventional love story about a blind girl and a disfigured man (Kareena Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt). Both Sanjay and Kareena mentioned the project in several interviews in 2000 and in 2001. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled later. Mahesh: "I had a script called Ek Anokhi Prem Kahani about a blind girl and a disfigured man with Kareena Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. I can't make such films in Hindi." But obviously he still hasn't given up this project completely.

Gangs Of London: Part of a 3-film deal between producer Bunty Walia and Sanjay Dutt. The other two movies are Lamhaa and Just Punjabi. Sanjay will play a ganglord in the film. Talking about the project, Bunty says, “Bhupinder Singh has penned the script, which is about the various gangs Punjabi, Pakistani, Bangladeshi that operate in London. I liked the idea of Indian gangs operating in foreign country with their own ideas and principles. Sanju’s gang doesn’t allow prostitution and drugs in their area.” Originally, ad filmmaker Shamin Desai was to direct Gangs Of London but he was replaced by the producer's brother Juspreet Singh Walia who studied filmmaking in New York. Sanjay Dutt leads a Punjabi gang in the heart of London. It will to be a huge production with six heroes and will be shooted in a start-to-finish 75-day schedule in London. Foreign technicians, Pakistani actors, two heroines and a lot of Indians settled in London will be part of the cast and crew. Vishal-Shekhar will score the music. Says Sanjay Dutt, “It’s an interesting film emotional with an high acting quotient, and is set in one of my favourite cities London... I won’t be wearing a turban. The beard will be stylised like the ones the youth in London sport.” Gangs of London is a story of two brothers and their friends who get into problems with other gangs because they protect people from drugs and prostitution. Sanjay's brother will supposedly be played by Bobby Deol, other members of his gang "Khalsa" are Sunil Shetty, Shaad Randhawa, Dino Morea and Tusshar Kapoor. And Arjun Khanna has already created an all-leather chains-and-boots look for Sanjay.

Happily Divorced: Indra Kumar planned this film for Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision starring Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Akshaye Khanna (1/2010). Finally, however, he opted for Dhamaal 2.

Happy New Year: Farah Khan's multistarrer was to provide a role for Sanjay, too. But the project was shelved/stalled in favour for Om Shanti Om (2007).

Hera Pheri 4: Producer Firoz Nadiadwala is said to make Hera Pheri 4 with a completely new cast and crew - Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Abhishek Bachchan, and director Anees Bazmee.
Edit: Obviously Sunil Shetty is back in the cast and Sanjay doesn't have to step in for him.
Edit 2: But in November 2010 Sanjay named Hera Pheri as one of his forthcoming projects... What ever, it never happened.

Indradhanush: Producer Salim signed Sanjay for this film but in the early 1990’s, Sanjay walked out of the project, the reasons being contradictory as the withdrawal obviously didn’t happen amicably. The project was cancelled thereafter.

Jaan Ki Baazi: In 2003 (other sources say, in 2001), Noorani Film Corp launched this Shakeel Noorani film with Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Danny Denzongpa and Ashish Vidyarthi. Allegedly, 50% of the film were shot. (Source)
Noorani won his case against Sanjay who is said to have walked out of the film without explanation.

Jailor Qaidi: Producer Pushpa S. Chaudhary, Director Partho Ghosh, with Manisha Koirala; announced in the early 1990’s.

Jazbaa: A Sanjay Gupta thriller with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Fardeen Khan, Aftab Shivdasani and Suniel Shetty. Shooting should have started in August 2007 in Chicago/USA but Sanjay Dutt's legal hassles plus his fallout with Gupta were the end of this project.

JP Dutta Project: Sanjay Dutt had agreed to do a film with JP Dutta with whom he earlier has worked for Hathyar (1989), Kshatriya and LOC Kargil. Dutta is planning a film that will complete his war trilogy after Border and LOC Kargil. Dutta has dedicated all his war films to his brother Deepak, who died while serving the Indian Air force. Dutta’s film will feature Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and Naseeruddin Shah. The filmmaker is also apparently in talks with Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. It will be an expensive project, and Dutta hopes to get the Indian government's permission to shoot in war-sensitive areas. Menawhile, due to date problems, Sanjay opted out of the project.

Jungle: This was to be Sanjay’s debut film as producer, directed by Rahul Rawail and with Lisa Ray in the female lead. But the project didn’t promise to fulfill Sanjay’s expectations so in 1991, he cancelled it.

Just Punjabi: a) Announced in 2003 by producer Bunty Walia, to be directed by Apurva Lakhia, with Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta - but never made. Rumours say that Walia in 2007 made up his mind to revive this project, again with Sanjay.
b) Producer Bunty Walia revived 2007 his film project Just Punjabi (a Hindi version of My Big Fat Greek Wedding) which was announced a few years ago and later nearly forgotten. At that time Apoorva Lakhia was to direct the film but after the Ek Ajnabee flop Lakhia turned to Shootout at Lokhandwala. Now first-timer Jaspreet Walia is to direct the film. Back then, it was reported that Sanjay Dutt had been signed for the lead role while Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were in talks to act in the film. While Sanjay is still said to be a part of the project, Walia has reportedly approached Ash and Abhi for other main roles in the film. But menawhile it looks like the project is cancelled again.

Kalyug: Producer Mukesh Bhatt, Director Mahesh Bhatt, with Pooja Bhatt; announced in the early 1990’s.

Kasoor: Producer Bunty Behl, Director Mahesh Bhatt, with Dimple Kapadia; announced in the early 1990’s.

Khaleefe: A Sanjay Gupta film with Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan, mentioned in Stardust 10/1997.

Koochie Koochie Hota Hai (animation movie): In springtime 2009, rumours said that Sanjay, due to schedule problems, had to turn down Karan Johar's offer to lend his voice to one of the characters in the animated animal version of Johar's classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Obviously these rumours were false as this trailer proves. The figure Sanjay lent his voice to is the character Salman Khan played in the original movie.

Mamta: Producer Hiren Bafna, Director Kishore Vyas, with Neelam; announced in the early 1990’s.

Mera Kartavya: Producer Anil Rathi, Director Murali Mohan Rao, with Raveena Tandon; announced in the early 1990’s.

Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Tumse: Rishi Talwar’s film with Sanjay Dutt, Chandrachur Singh and Shamita Shetty was never releeased though it was announced for 2005, there were ads in magazines and short previews on DVDs. I hope to get to know one fine day about what happened to this film and why it was never released.
(BTW, you can see a short trailer - with Sanjay - on the Spark DVD Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya under "Forthcoming".)

Mr Fraud: Directors Abbas-Mustan casted for this film Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu and Ajay Devgan (produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd). Sanjay was to play a "fraudster" (and is joined in this by Anuj Sawhney), but especially due to the last phase of his TADA process (2006) the project was delayed for years. In February 2009 Shree Ashtavinayak announced that Mr Fraud finally was going to be completed with major portions to be re-shot, but in October Ajay stated: "Mr Fraud is kinda shelved."

Mukti: K Sera Sera's film Mukti was announced in the end of 2007, to be directed Ajay Phansekar and starring Sunil Shetty, Jaya Bachchan and Rimi Sen. In August 2008, however, it was to be read that Shabana Azmi had replaced Jaya Bachchan and that now also Vinod Khanna, Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt would act in Mukti. It's about a cop who shoots a child in an encounter. Ravi Kishen, another actor in this film, mentions in an interview that he would do this film for Popcorn Entertainment. Maybe Sunil is coproducing this film and Sanjay thus became a part of the project... Anyway, the project has disappeared without a trace.

Mumbai Taxi Service: Apoorva Lakhia is planning a film starring Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Sunil Shetty, based on a true story he read in the newspaper about an event in Mumbai from 1985 involving some cops. It will be a realistic film like Shootout At Lokhandwala. Producer is Shree Ashtavinayak. Lakhia is also in talks with Amitabh Bachchan. In spite of the plans obviously having been very advanced, the project suddenly was stalled.

Mushkil: With Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, announced in the early 1990’s.

Nayak: A Ram Gopal Varma film with Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar. About 35% of the scenes had been shot when Sanjay’s arrest in 1993 stopped the production. After his release in 1995, Nayak was expected to become Sanjay’s comeback film. But then Varma shelved the project and started a new one with Sanjay and Urmila. Allegedly Sanjay after his release was unhappy with the story of Nayak as he was to play an underworld don fighting a politician (Naseeruddin Shah) who very much resembled Bal Thackeray whom Sanjay respects immensely.

Padosan Remake: For a long time, a remake of this successful comedy from 1968 failed because of the rights; Sanjay Dutt tried in vain to get them. After Shemaroo finally bought the rights, Neeraj Vora was to direct the film with Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal and Riteish Deshmukh in the roles initially played by Kishore Kumar, Mehmood and Sunil Dutt (originally Govinda was planned instead of Paresh). Saira Banu's role was to be played by Katrina Kaif. But after having been announced in 8/2007, the project was never made.

Partner 2: David Dhawan planned a sequel of Partner-Sequel in which, besides Salman Khan and Govinda, Sanjay should have a wicked-but-funny role. But the project never went off, among other things due to lack of good script ideas.

Power: After Raj Kumar Santoshi's The Outsider with Amitabh Bachchan had been temporarily postponed, Santoshi had instead moved to another crime thriller for the same producer Firoz Nadiadwala. This crime thriller was to feature Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt in stellar roles; also part of the cast were Anuradha Patel, Lekha Washington and Ameesha Patel. The mahurat took place on September 22, 2010; shooting started October 4 and was to take place in Mumbai, Bhopal, Muscat and Dubai. However, after Ajay walked out of the project (and later allegedly in again) it has obviously been shelved as Santoshi didn't succeed to get same dates from all the busy stars again.

Raj Kumar Santoshi Project: Raj Kumar Santoshi, who always wanted to work with Sanjay Dutt, had finally signed him for a film based on Asghar Wajahat's play Jis Lahore Ni Vekhya O Jammiya Nahin... (One who hasn't seen Lahore hasn't been really born as yet). The play is about the Partition and its fallout on relationships. The film was to be shot in Hyderabad. Santoshi narrated the story to Sanjay on the sets of Anil Kapoor's Shortkut, and Sanjay agreed immediately as he loved the story. According to Santoshi, Sanjay was play a Muslim, a "very powerful role"; as his co-stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vidya Balan, Neha Uberoi and even Salman Khan were in talks... Too bad the project never went off.
(In November 2008 the Mid-Day wrote about a Santoshi project for SDP with Neha Uberoi and Akshaye Khanna - is this the same one or another?)

Ranveer: In the Filmfare 12/2003, Sanjay mentioned this AB Corp. production of Rajkumar Santoshi with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan in which he, being a close friend to both of the Bachchans, had agreed to do a supporting role. But the film was never made.

RGV Project: After Department, Ram Gopal Varma was planning another movie with Sanjay, an international espionage drama where Dutt was to play an undercover agent out to crack a global crime syndicate, inspired by Steven Spielberg's take on global terrorism Munich. RGV said, "I truly believe Sanjay Dutt is our last action hero. So, I am going to cast him as a one-man army on a global mission. Munich is the film I've in mind. But it would be not just a cerebral thriller. I want Sanjay Dutt doing a lot of daring action. You see, in Department he plays a plain clothed cop who has to blend with the crowds. So there's little room for heroics. I want to pump up the action level dangerously in our next film. So it would be Munich meets Rambo." However, after RGV's public fallout with Sanjay after the release of Department (2012), it is unlikely that they will work together again.

Saamna: Producer Subrat Das, Director K. Bapaiah, with Sridevi; announced in the early 1990’s.

Seven: Early in 2007, Raj N Sippy planned a remake of Satte Pe Satta with Sanjay in Amitabh Bachchan's double role. But due to date problems, the project never took off.

Shantidoot: In 1985, Sanjay was signed for Sawan Kumar Tak's ambitious 3-D project, based on a Hollywood super-hero fantasy. Maybe the project was too ambitious.

Sher: In Soham Shah's film (Sher?) Sanjay plays the real life gangster Sharman Munjha Jadeja from Porbandar, Gujarat. The film will be co-produced by Ashtavinayak Cine Vision: "We are extremely thrilled to join hands with Sanjay Dutt Productions. The film will go on floors in May. After this one wraps up, we will start work on Satte Pe Satta." Sharman Munjha was better known as the Robinhood of Gujarat. The Munjha family ruled Porbandar and other places in Saurashtra in the 80s. Besides Sanjay, Vivek Oberoi, Chitrangada Singh, Sunil Shetty, Humaima Mallick, Paresh Rawal, Vinod Khanna are said to be part of the cast. Shooting started in May 2012. Meanwhile, the project ran into two legal troubles and a release is not in sight.

Talismaan: Vinod Chopra Films' Talismaan was planned to star Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt (in a pivotal, negative role). Talismaan is a romantic fantasy adventure inspired by epic novel, Chandrakanta, written in 1892 by Babu Devaki Nandan Khatri. It interweaves and mixes elements of magic, fantasy and war. Director Ram Madhvani says, "Vinod gave me a book to read Chandrakanta, written 50 years before Lord Of The Rings and 100 years before Harry Potter. I was amazed at its ideas and fantasy elements. He set me off on a journey. Talismaan is a love story, a fantasy and uses magic. It has a unique Indianness and yet is modern and contemporary. It's time we had a fantasy film we can call our own and one we can be proud off. Talismaan is my attempt to do just that. The film is very heavy on special effects etc and therefore a lot of time is being spent on pre-production. The storyboarding, concept art etc, requires detailing and research. It's not a film you write the script for and then go on the floors to shoot it straightaway."
Chandrakanta is the story of prince Virendra Singh, who is in love with the princess of a rival kingdom, Chandrakanta. Thrown into this love story is a magical maze in an old abandoned fort which guards a huge treasure trove. Virendra Singh and Chandrakanta have to ensure that their love wins against evil villains like King Shivdutt of another kingdom, who wants to capture the treasure. Also after the treasure are 'aiyyars' or super-spies who have the magical powers of transforming themselves into another person, and are experts in all modes of warfare.
Edit: On May 11, 2011 it was announced that the project was shelved.

Tere Pyaar Ki Kasam: In 2003, Mahesh Manjrekar’s mystery film with Sanjay Dutt, Mahima Chaudhary, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Zayed Khan, Om Puri, Shamita Shetty and Suniel Shetty was announced but left incomplete.

Total Dhamaal: Obviously Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar were already planning a third Dhamaal film with the same cast as in Double Dhamaal. Though allegedly Sanjay meanwhile politely refused to do another Dhamaal movie.
Source Source

Tu Hi Meri Arzoo: With Manisha Koirala, mentioned in Movie 2/1993.

Vande Mataram: In 2003, Sanjay mentioned in several interviews a Mani Shankar film called Vande Mataram he wanted to produce together with Nitin Manmohan, Ajay Devgan and Suniel Shetty. For this purpose, the four of them even formed the Actors Association "Foursome Productions". But in March 2004 Manmohan declared the project to be shelved as, in the producers’ opinion, a movie about the Bangladesh war of 1971 wasn’t appropriate in times of peace talks between India and Pakistan.

Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai: Producer and Director R.K. Nayyar, with Madhuri Dixit, announced in the early 1990’s.

Zameen: In 1987, Suresh Malhotra launched this production, directed by Ramesh Sippy, with Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Vinod Khanna, Rajnikant and Sanjay Dutt. But soon date hassles delayed the project, and Suresh Malhotra concentrated more on his Time Machine project while Zameen was put into the backwater and, after Sanjay’s re-arrest in 1994, obviously was cancelled completely.

Untitled Plans: In 1991, Sunil Dutt thought about doing a movie together with his son Sanjay about drug abuse (what a pity that they never did it). In 1997 Sohail Khan planed a film (possibly Kainath?) in which Sanjay was to play a thoroughly negative role, but the project was shelved in favour of Hello Brother. Two other projects mentioned 1997 in magazines were a Ramesh Taurani film with Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai where Sanjay should take up a role originally designed for Sanjay Kapoor, and a Forrest Gump remake planed by Kundan Shah.

Alert 24x7: Psycho-Thriller; Regisseur Sojan Joseph, Drehbuchautor Dilip Shukla (Dabangg), Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Kabir Bedi, Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher.

Bihaad...
Quelle Quelle Quelle Quelle Quelle

Choodiyaan: Produzent Sunderdas Sonkia, Regie J.P.
