Until his unexpected death in 1997, director Mukul S Anand worked for this action movie which had raised great expectations to become his opus magnum. It featured Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Vinod Khanna and Rahul Dev. Sanjay was to play Captain Raja Sethi who works for an anti-terror unit and chases an Afghan terrorist (Raveena in her first negative role) but gets caught and tortured while his partner (Salman), accompanied by a journalist (Shilpa), tries to save him.
About 40% of the scenes had been shot when Anand, shortly after returning from a schedule in Utah, USA, suddenly passed away. His partner in production Nitin Manmohan tried at first to complete the film with an other director (in an interview from 1998, Sanjay mentioned Ramesh Sippy), but in the end only the film soundtrack was released in 1999 as „Dus – Tribute to Mukul S Anand“, with Mukul’s widow Anita stating that Dus was Mukul’s baby from the very beginning and the end result was to remain an "unfulfilled dream".
Mukul's brother Rahhul, however, allegedly plans to revive the project ten years after his brother's demise.
