Lage Raho Munnabhai räumt bei den National Awards 2006 ab

Vier National Awards 2006 gingen an LRM:

- Most Popular Film Award "for revalidating the philosophy of non-violence in a strife-torn world and helping rediscover the Gandhi within the common man" (= dafür, dass der Film der Philosophie der Gewaltlosigkeit in einer zerrissenen Welt neuen Wert verliehen hat, und für die Hilfe bei der Wiederentdeckung Gandhis in jedem von uns)

- Best Screenplay Award für Abhijat Joshi, Raj Kumar Hirani und Vidhu Vinod Chopra

- Best Lyricist Award für Swanand Kirkire ("Bande Mein Tha Dum - Vande Mataram")

- Best Supporting Actor für Dilip Prabhavalkar (Gandhi in Lage Raho Munnabhai und eine weitere Rolle in dem Marathi-Film Shevri)
